Google reveals top searches for 2010 – Real Estate at No 7!

In a recent article on smartcompany.com.au by Patrick Stafford, the top 10 Google Searches for 2010 were revealed.

They were:

  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • Google
  • eBay
  • Hotmail
  • Yahoo!
  • Real estate
  • Maps
  • Commonwealth
  • White Pages

There you have it – Real Estate at number 7!  It goes to show you how much the industry has changed in the last few years, thanks to the rise and rise of the search engines, technology and the availability of Real Estate Data.  I guess this means two things:

1. If you are a Real Estate Agent, your customers are searching for you and your services online, so you’d better get with the program if your website is not up to scratch, you need to consider your online strategy for the new year.

2. A little birdy also told me that the search engines are constantly making changes to their preferences and algorithms, and are now giving a lot of weight to local searches, for example, “Real Estate Neutral Bay”.  So even though “Real Estate” is a highly competitive keyword and you may not be able to rank for this, you should to look into things like Google Local and other directories.

There is obviously a lot of leads out there.  Time to go gettum!
